a Gk. κάμπη. For Hb. גזם gzm [H1501]. Presumed to be the swarming adult locust.
b Gk. ἀρκις. For Hb. ארבה ʾrbh [H697]. Presumed to be the resident adult locust.
c Gk. βροῦχος. For Hb. ילק ylq [H3218]. Presumed to be the locust wingless hopper stage.
d Gk. ἐρυσίβη. For Hb. חסיל ḥsyl [H2625]. Presumed to be the locust crawling nymph stage.
e United Bible Societies' Translation Insights & Perspectives [TIPs] tool: In [Joel 1:4 and 2:25] there are no less than four different words for locust.... Most commentators accept that this refers to locusts in four different stages of development. These would presumably be the swarming adult locust [gazam/κάμπη], the resident adult locust [arbeh/ἀκρίς], the wingless hopper [yeleq/[βροῦχος], and the crawling nymph [hasil/ἐρυσίβη].
