Consider the years of many generations.
Ask your father, and he will show you;
your elders, and they will tell you.Call to mind the dayª of eternity

a Per Funk Greek Grammar, Verbs Taking a Genitive Object: the genitive is employed where only a part of the whole denoted by the object is involved, where the object denoted the source of what is remembered or heard. The difference between an accustative and a genitive object provides the basis for fine nuances e.g. to remember something as a whole requires the accusative, BUT to remember something ABOUT someone or something takes the genitive. (see also Smyth 1306) IF these are accurate explanations, then we must at least attempt to offer the literal translation of the awkward text as if having BOTH the objects commanded to be "remembered" in singular and in the gentive was the INTENTION. Though this may make for an akward translation there are other places in Scripture that are equally odd or awkward, that when tied together by the explanation and understanding of who Jesus says He is (Light of the world. logos made flesh) and what He says He brings (eternal life), make sense of them all: "but now is made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and has brought life and immortality to LIGHT through the gospel (2Tim1:10) STARTING in Genesis 1:5 εκαλεσεν ο θεος το φως ημεραν God called the Light "DAY" Exodus 20:8 μνηθητι την ημεραν "remember the DAY" John 3:19 αυτε δε εστιν η κρισισ οτι το φως έλήλυθεω εις τον κοσμον και ήγαπησαν οι ανθπωποι μαλλον τό σκότος ή τό φως "this is the condemnation: LIGHT has come into the world but men loved darkness rather than Light" John 5:24 Αμην Αμην λεγω υμιν οτι ο τον λογον μου ακουων και πιστευων τω πεμψαντι με εχει ζωην αιωνιον και εις κρισιν ουκ ερχεται αλλα μεταβεβηκεν εκ του θανατοu εις την ζωην see also Psalm 76:7
