^a Cf. Dn. 7:8: 7:8 As I was contemplating the horns, another horn – a small one – came up between them, and three of the former horns were torn out by the roots to make room for it. This horn had eyes resembling human eyes and a mouth speaking arrogant things [LXX: καὶ στόμα λαλοῦν μεγάλα] (NET).

^b Gk. ποιέω, to do or make. R-P has καὶ ἐδόθη αὐτῷ ἐξουσία πόλεμον ποιῆσαι [and was given to it authority to make war]. Note that the Old Greek version of Daniel adds to 7:8: ...καὶ ἐποίει πόλεμον πρὸς τοὺς ἁγίους [and it made war against the holy (ones)].
