Rom 1:28
Even as they refused[a] to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate[b] mind, to do those things which are not fitting;
———
a Refused seems a not optimal translation. Note: οὐ δοκιμάζω, not ἀποδοκιμάζω; that is, to not bother to scrutinize rather than to scrutinize and then reject as bad or false. To wit, Even as they did not give God a second thought in order to know him.
b Gk. ἀδόκιμος. An un-DOKIMAZW-ed mind (disapproved or unapprovable)? Or a mind that doesn't DOKIMAZW (a mind unwilling or unable to discern good from bad and true from false)?
