Rom 1:18
For being revealed from heaven is the wrath of God's displeasure[a] is revealed from heaven against over all ungodliness godlessness and unrighteousness of men, who, suppress the truth in unrighteousness, blind[b] (themselves) to the truth;
———
a Gk. ὀργὴ. Is it man's depravity that reveals God's ὀργὴ, because it shows that God has surrendered (1:24, 26, 28) man to his basest desires? Or is it the law; see Rom. 4:14: For the law brings wrath, but where there is no law there no transgression (ESV)?
b Gk. κατέχω, to hold down. Here it says they suppress the truth. While the verse does not explicitly say for themselves, the next verse says God makes himself plain to all men (1:19), in which case presumably, the suppression ultimately is their own in willful ignorance, not for others.
