a πηχυν is the Koine word translated "cubit" hundreds of times in the LXX and two of the four instances in the NT, referring specifically to the linear unit of measuring length used bu a builder or architect. Although it is rather clear The Lord is talking about extending the length of our lives, He specifically applies this unit of measure πηχυν, suggesting that WE are not the Builder/ Architect of our lives hence the literal translation is for transparency for the non-Greek reader to demonstrate what wordsThe Lord actually said here.
