Jn 8:19
¶They said therefore to him, “Where is your Father?”
¶Jesus answered, “You know neither me, nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”
———
a this is a remarkable demonstration of Jesus' mercy being juxtaposed to the logical dynamic of the accusation laid against the adulteress in verse 8:10: where, in the gross hypocrisy of the scribes' and Pharisees' willingness to only partially enforce the Deut 22;22 law by only presenting the adulteress "caught in the act", which, by definition of caught in the act, means if they had known the adulteress, they would have known the adulterer also, Jesus could have easily, lawfully and logically condemned ALL of them by simply asking "where is the adulterer?" but instead, JESUS chose to demonstrate the currency of His SOVEREIGNTY is LOVE/ MERCY (see Mark 10:42-45)! Astoundingly, it is the scribes and Pharisees who, in a demonstration of their unbridled hypocrisy, ask Jesus "Where is your Father?" (!) in their accusation that Jesus is falsely testifying about Himself! An accusation which Jesus defends with the very same logic that condemns their hypocrisy (!!!) "if you knew me you would know my Father", He is presenting the same reasoning that condemns thems all. A beautiful example of Jesus coming to save the world!
