The present tense verbs here ought to be translated with English past-tenses. The Greek verbs are examples of the "historical present" which is commonly used in Greek narratives to describe past events.
b
the definite article in front of ιματια ought to be translated into English with the possessive pronoun "his" rather than the simple "the." The Greek definite article often has a possessive force, especially where (as here) the context makes it clear that the objects in question belong to the verbal subject.
