b The English word "hope" has an implied subjunctive mood to it. The Greek word is a more certain "expectation".
c Gk. ἔλεγχος, conviction (after having been convinced of something). See BDAG s.v. ἔλεγχος 1.: ἔ. πραγμάτων οὐ βλεπομένων faith is a proving (or conviction about) unseen things=faith means to be sure about things unseen (in contrast to confidence in the temporal).
