b Psalm 68:21-22: But God will strike the heads of his enemies, the hairy crown of him who walks in his guilty ways. / The Lord said, / I will bring them back from Bashan, / I will bring them back from the depths of the sea (ESV). [In verse 23 it gets bloody.]
c Spoils of his victory. Note that in the LXX verse 18 actually says ἔλαβες [took] gifts instead of ἔδωκεν [gave] gifts. See Psalm 68:29: Because of your temple at Jerusalem / kings shall bear gifts to you (ESV). But see also 1 Samuel 30:26: When David came to Ziklag, he sent part of the spoil to his friends, the elders of Judah, saying, Here is a present for you from the spoil of the enemies of the Lord. (ESV).
