Eph 4:28
Let him who stole steal is stealing be stealing no more [a]; but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good [b], that he may have something to give impart to him who has need.
———
a Here is a present participle and a present imperative denoting continuous or ongoing activity. It is an allusion, like the thieves dying beside Jesus on the cross, to men who lead their own lives, expressing themselves instead of the Father, through the Son who is there with them.
b The thing that is good is defined in the next verse: expressing the Father, being an imitator of Christ, being providential of His Grace to build the reigning of Christ in Man.
