Walk Carry yourself[a] in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming using the time purposefully.[b]
———
a Gk. περιπατέω, walk.
b Gk. τὸν καιρὸν ἐξαγοραζόμενοι, lit., redeeming (gaining possession of) the time (see also Eph. 5:16). The meaning is open to interpretation. Cf. Dn. 2:8 (Brenton LXX): The king answered, I know with certainty that you are stalling for time [καιρὸν ὑμεῖς ἐξαγοραζέτε], because you see the thing is forgotten by me, i.e., buying time [ἀγοράζω]. Zerwick: The meaning of the mid. [voice] is doubtful, perh. exploiting the opportunity.
