Acts 5:37
After this man, Judas of Galilee[a] rose up in the days of the enrollment census,[b] and drew away some people after him. He also perished, and all, as many as obeyed were being influenced him, were scattered abroad.
———
a Judas of Galilee, a found of the Zealots, led a revolt against the Census of Quirinius c. 6 AD. The census was part of the reorganization of the tetrachy of Judea, Samaria, and Idumea into the Roman province Iudaea, administered by Roman governers (such as Pontius Pilate in 29 CE), after Augustus Caesar deposed Herod Archelaus for misrule. See notes Mt 2:22 and Lk. 3:1, 23:7.
