σύνεσις is what Jesus had:

And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding [συνέσει] and his answers (Luke 2:47 ESV).

and animals do not have:

Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding [σύνεσις], which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you (Psalm 32:9 ESV).
