Lk 16:8
His The lord commended (couldn't help but) admire[a] the dishonest manager for (his) mischief[b] because he had done acted wisely ingeniously, for the children of this world age are, in their own generation, wiser more ingenious in their own generation than (are) the children of the light (in theirs).[c]
———
a Gk. ἐπαινέω, to praise.
b Gk. τῆς ἀδικίας, of the wrongdoing. This is usually translated as an adjective modifying τὸν οἰκονόμον, e.g., the dishonest manager, instead of as a genitive noun. However, see Smyth 1405: With verbs of emotion the genitive denotes the cause. ...τὸν ξένον δίκαιον αἰνέσαι προθῡμίᾱς it is right to praise the stranger for his zeal...
c Is this: The children of this age demonstrate more drive for the things of this age than do the children of the light for the things of the light?
